J.B. Hutto (USA)

Joseph Benjamin Hutto was Born 26 April 1926 in Blackville, South Carolina. he died 12 June 1983 in Harvey, Illinois. His guitar Play was influenced by Elmore James. He became known for his slide guitar playing and declamatory style of singing. In 1949 relocated to Chicago, served as a draftee in the Korean war. Back in Chicago he joined Johnny Ferguson & The Twisters as a Drummer. They added Joe Custom on second guitar and harmonica Player Earring George Mayweather. Hutto named the band after the wind that blows in Chicago: Hawk. In 1954 they recorded two Singles for Chance Records and later the year a third single with Johnny Jones on piano.
In the late 50's he became disenchanted with performing and worked until the mid 60's as janitor in a funeral home. The new Hawks featured Herman Hassel on bass and Frank Kirkland on drums. They recorded for Vanguard Records "Chicago Blues Today" a compilation and an Album for Testament records and Delmark with Sunnyland Slim on piano. 
After Hound Dog Taylor died in 1975 he took over his band, the House Rockers until he relocated to Boston in the late 70's were he founded the new Hawks with whom he recorded albums for Varrick. The last Album he recorded was "Slipin' & Slidin' for Varrick, re-issued as Rock with me Tonight, it was described as "near perfect".
