William Rory Gallagher was Born 2nd March 1948 in Ballyshannon, Irland. Due to his alcohol abuse he was given a liver transplant, after the surgery he died on 14 June 1995 because of complications.
After finishing School, Rory teamed up with the band Fontana, in 1965 the band renamed into The Impact. But Rory left together with Bassist Oliver Tobin and a Drummer to perform in famous Hamburg Star Club. In 1966 he came back to Irland an formed the power trio "Taste". Originally with Eric Kitteringham and Norman Damery in 1968 they were replaced by Drummer John Wilson and Bassist Richard McCracken. Shortly after their appearance at the Isle Of Wight Festival, Rory disbanded the Taste and started his solo Career. With Gerry McAvoy and Wilgar Campbell Rory Gallagher started his very successful solo Career in the 70s. In 1972 Rod de'Ath became the new Drummer and with Lou Martin a Keyboarder was added to the band. Drummers kept on changing, in 1978 Ted McKenna was the new Drummer until 1981 when Brendan O'Neill took the chair and in 1992 until 1994 Richard Newman. 1992 saw also Gerry McAvoy leaving, replaced by David Levy and Lou Martin was replaced by John Cooke.
