Keith B. Brown is recognized as one of the great bluesmen of his generation. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, his family originally hails from Greenwood, Mississippi in the heart of the delta. Keith Brown lives in Paris/France. His mastery and knowledge of Delta Blues styles; ranging from Son House and Skip James to Bukka White, Robert Johnson and Fred Mcdowell, has put him in the forefront of a small but important new generation of African-american country-blues artists. His recordings and his potent and fiery concert performances represent a homogenous coexistence of traditional blues and his more contemporary compositions. So it’s quite logical that he was chosen in 2003 as one of the leading performers in the first part of the film series on the blues, initiated by Martin Scorsese and directed by Wim Wenders, “The Soul of a Man”. The film, starring Keith B. in the role of Skip James, was part of the official selection at Cannes where Keith joined Wim Wenders to present it to the public.
A few years earlier, in 1998, filmmaker Glenn Marzano had already cast him in the role of the great Son House in his film ‘Stop Breakin’ Down’, about the life of blues legend, Robert Johnson.
