Tommy Castro (USA)

Tommy Castro was born on April 15 in 1955 in San Jose/CA. At the age of 10 he began to play guitar. He was inspired by West-Coast and Chicago Blues but also Soul, RocknRoll and Southern Rock. In the 1970s he began to play as a professional in the Bay Area, played for the Dynatones in the 1980s and since 1991 he is leading his own bands. Since 1994 he recorded 17 albums, 6 for Blind Pig and as from 2009 another6 for Alligator records.
In 2007 his album "Painkiller" was voted Best Album of the Year and in 2008 it won the Blues Music Award. 2010 was his most successful year so far, he won 4 Blues Music Awards: Best Band, Best Male Artist, Best Album and B.B.King Entertainer of the Year. In 2011 he stripped down his band to a four piece outfit called the Painkillers.
